Love Around Episode 2 & 3 - Friendships New Friendships Old

I got chuckles out of these two episodes, but I am easily amused.

After night of getting drunk on one glass of wine, deflating one tire, and a stint in the police station because some impromptu search Police peeps thought Zhen drugged Xiao and took her to a hotel to get it on with her unconscious body. They part ways, after she asks to phone a friend and money for a cab.

She gets home to find her mom waiting to smack her around a bit. Her dad is the taciturn type that are just as much trouble as the quick tempered drama dads. Her parents are the indulgent types that are also overly strict. How can a woman in her mid twenties not be allowed out past 10pm? Their house, their rules, I guess.

They head to a cemetery for a memorial of Xiao's little brother. They find flowers already there. They all mock the deliverer of the flowers. Dad picks it up and trashes the flowers, in a show of repressed rage. I'm hoping Zhen and his former gangster family are not involved, but this shindig is paint by numbers so I'm not holding my breath.

Zhen's grandma had a heart thing that was not quite an attack. His grandma is the only rich grandma in all of Taiwan. At least, her wig is not a horror to behold this time.

We also find out Xiao really hates Zhen's dad or uncle, so she rides on his tail any chance she gets however flimsy. The underlying motivations here seem as meh as sugarless milk.Except Zhou Senior is a fan, so he gets really upset when she rails on him and calls her to defend himself not as himself. It was very amusing.

A mysterious pedantic glasses dude saves Zhen's sister from getting hit, but in the process she gets water dumped on her.

Another series of circumstances, Xiao and Zhen meet again and they hang out. They are beginning to enjoy each others company as two heartbroken fellows. They go by Xiao's cheating ex's house and Xiao wants to do something more mean than deflating a tire. Should have deflated all four in the first place.

They get paint and toss it at his front wall, but Xiao's ex arrives with da boys. And it descends into the duodenum of clusterfuckery, and it's only episode two. Well at least I would know to expect such BS more often. This part really annoyed me. Anyway it's vehicle for Xiao to announce she hates the mafia, gangs and violence much to Zhen's dismay. It's not like he's still a violent gang banger. She is grabbed by her limpid ex and threatened with a stone. I mean its so ridiculous, he isn't grabbing he too tightly anyway and even if he hit her with the stone, it would heal so why she didn't fight to get out of his hold but flopped around like a dead marlin. Anyway Zhen breaks his watch in the tousle.

Later, after Zhen drops Xiao at home, he gets his boys to capture Jason, Xiao's ex. The boys, far too used to their mafia ways, take him to a deserted lot, and make him dig a hole.

The next morning Xiao invites him to buy a new watch, she finds out it's a pair with his ex, which she broke last episode after she told him she didn't want to date a gangster even one so rich. Integrity...?

She decides to treat him again, her time in replacement for his watch. He is touched, and accepts. They go another restaurant ad placement and they run into Zhen's ex-gf, who is with another dude she claims is her new very-much-not-a-mafia boyfriend. She and Xiao meet at the door where neither one wanted to give way for the other. A metaphoric incident relating to Zhen's heart perhaps. Eventually, Xiao lets her exit first.

After that they get non matching 'singles rings', they go to a matchmaking company, where he finds out she's the DJ of the station his ex-gf liked, and she finds out he's mysteriously depressed Mr J, who keeps asking for the same song, they bond.
They go to a baseball game and she nearly breaks her neck from all the excitement but he saves her.

The next day Xiao reacquaints herself with Gao Zhe Xuan, her long lost chidhood friend after thinking he was a man who keeps calling her on her radio show and asks for her underwear colour. I say they are white utilitarian, the goody goody types; boring. Anyway after an amusing sequence trying to get away from him since he was watching her and smiling like a creepazoid, he convinces her that he's her old pal.
For some reason, they didn't put the mole in the right place for Gao kid version

Someone is watching me. Instead of asking them what's up, Imma hide my face. She only has mouth.

At the lobby of his work place, Gao meets Zhen's sister, who has concocted a simple yet easily ruined plan to embarrass him. She only ends up embarrassing herself when her accomplice friend ends up tripping someone else who yanks down her skirt like a weak harem anime hero. Gao ends up saving her, by covering her up, with his jacket, but instead of pulling herself together she bemoans her loss of face/pride. He yanks her skirt up and leaves. She remains annoyed with him.

Back at work Xiao find out that all their advertisers have pulled out. According to all the M&Bs I have read in my life, this can only mean a HOSTILE TAKEOVER! True enough, Elder Zhou's proxy comes with an offer to buy the business and clip her 'wings'. Gao takes a look at her books, since he's an accountant and he tells her that her radio station has only three months to live.
