The next morning, at Florence…
‘Hong Yira-ssi, I told you explicitly that I didn’t like this draft. Why did you continue with it?’ His voice reverberated around the office.
‘That design was chosen by the customers as the most accessible. I chose to continue it because we have been criticised for ignoring their ideas.’ (Zuben: I don't understand, don't you just buy the undies you like or is there some weird constumer - manufaturer relationship in Asia?)
‘So, why did you ask me to approve it if you’re going to do as you please anyway, Hong Yira-ssi?’ Gye-eul voice was as cold as midwinter. They were full of resentment against each other. The rest of the employees watched in bated breath, shocked by the cold snap that had befallen the office. These two, who were so close, were now breathtakingly frosty to each other.
They watched Gye-eul and Yira in trepidation.
‘CEO?’ Mr Kim Ji-Won, the head of the management support team, called to Gye-eul.
‘What?’ He barked, without looking back at the Ji-won.
‘Pardon me,’ everyone’s eyes looked to the person next to Ji-won. A refined looking man with a nice stature. His stylishness could be seen from afar. (Zuben: From space!)
‘Well, we have the new product planning team designer…’
The office went into a state of shock. Was this Kevin Yoon, the new head of product planning? The very person Cha Gye-eul went to scout in the US after the last head of product planning resigned. Everyone’s eyes widened.
‘Hello everyone, my name is Kevin Yoon.’
Gye-eul turned around. Kevin reached out to shake Gye-eul’s hand with a polite smile. Gye-eul quickly put aside his anger at Yira, and took Kevin’s hand.
‘Nice to meet you again. Welcome to Florence.’
Once they had finished their greetings, Kim Ji-won spoke up, ‘Everyone say hello and welcome new team leader Kevin Yoon.’
There was a smattering of applause, and the cold awkward atmosphere was blown away. But under the clapping, there was a click of heels walking out. Gye-eul stared at Yira leaving the room. The newcomer also watched Yira leave with a meaningful smile on his face.
