Have you missed me, my lovelies?
Presenting a new novel; it's actually part of a series of web novels which
Love Me Again is part of. They are of the same universe. The stories are three modern ones and three historical ones. Dark Empress is part of the historical set. I cannot for the life of me figure out what the series is supposed to be called, so someone with more Chinese Language proficiency - have at it:
老梗也是梗系列之一
It should go without saying for the old readers, but for new readers please be aware that I make running commentary. A lot of running commentary, it waxes and wanes through the chapters. See my
post for the whys and wherefores. But if that kind of thing rubs you the wrong way, close the tab and go enjoy life, no one should intentionally imbibe anger.
I chose to start with this one because not only is it the first of the historical part of the series but the I loved the character of the heroine, Jiang Chuwei minus the complaining about being dark skinned - I mean four chapters later, get over it already. Being dark skinned ain't a death sentence.
Anyway, without further ado, I present: Dark Empress!
Blurb:
Why was her fate so rough?
Everything has turned disastrous.
She a high flying working girl has transmigrated into a black charcoal.
In addition, a completely unfavoured Empress!
That pervert Emperor can go to hell!
No matter what life, men were to lick her toes.
Want her to serve a man, dream on!
But, she didn't expect the Emperor to be handsome and seductive.
She wasn't interested in one moment, but rolling with him in the next.
But his acceptance level is high, that he can chew on a piece of charcoal.
And she doesn't mind reciprocating since he is the meal.
But this ancient man sees her as a new toy.
Did he think that by having her body he could have her heart?
Although, she is now an ancient person herself, she has long decided she would not spend the rest of her life in the harem.
How could she let herself become a poor woman waiting for a man to occasionally bestow her with his favours...
Dark:
It looked like – she had
transmigrated.
One of those overused plots in dog blood
dramas on TV and novels: Transmigration.
But she was calm. Why was she so
calm? Because, the terrible thing that happened to her wasn’t the crossing; Jiang
Chuwei from the moment of her birth in her former life, was beautiful. From
Kindergarten, there had been little boys vying for the position of her
boyfriend. The moment she entered Primary School, the title of ‘School Flower’
was unchanged till she left University. She had been 168cm tall. Her breasts
had been 34E, her waist measured 23in and her beautiful buttocks 34in. (Zuben: Once upon a time her vital statistics were in centimetres and it was hilarious!) Her face
was glamorous. She was regarded as a sexy stunner constantly pursued by men.
She didn’t know the number of men that had fallen under her seven inch heels.
But now…
Chuwei stood before of the blurry
bronze mirror. Though it wasn’t clear, it let her see what she was now. She was
thin – and flat. Her new body was more bones than meat. Her chest, she touched
it, was flat. Well, there was a little rise, but in her opinion was just a
manhole cover on asphalt. And this face - good lord! Jiang Chuwei was
heartbroken; was this even a woman’s face?
She had a small face and big hands!
Even that wasn’t it, she was so plain. As if being ordinary looking wasn’t
enough, what was with the complexion? She grimaced as she looked at the face
reflected in the mirror. Sorrowful tears threatened to fall. There was no other
way to describe the complexion except for dark.
People say whiteness covers
ugliness (Zuben: Where do they say this?), but this ordinary face being topped
with such dark skin like it was covered in charcoal, how can one live? (Zuben: you could top yourself, but then we won’t have a story)
Crossing over was not the most
disastrous thing; it was a little suffering to become gain the love of a
magnificent person. But how does one do that with this dark skin she was
wearing? Was this karma for tossing over so many men?
The Beautiful Jiang who had never
lost a man in her life, for the first time at the age of twenty-eight, cried.
(Zuben: cry me a river)
Zuben:
As a dark skinned person, this rankled so much. Any annoyance with the story stems from this. Logically I understand this is an Asian novel and being light is beauty. Still rankles though. Teehee
My dear TL, thanks for picking up and translate this novel
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I should pity her. :D
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Yes, yes, yes!
ReplyDeleteOh my god, thank you so much for picking up and translating this novel ^^
I love "Love Me Again" so much that I'm already looking forward for this novel!
PS: You don't know how I love lurking at your site and stalking your work ><
OMG!《《o(≧◇≦)o》》I lurk at your site too! Mutual Lurkers Society! Thank you for reading. I feel very gratified right now teehee.
DeleteOMG seriously?! o(≧∇≦o) I feel gratified as well!! XD
DeleteThough I might not drop comments that often, believe me that I'm usually lurking here and I'll always be looking forward to your projects~!
Thanks for the hard work and good luck! ✹◟(ᶮ ̮ ᶯ)◞✹
thank you so much for translating this novel and really appreciated... I was read "love me again" and knew this novel for ages and wish someone will pick it up and here you are...thank you
ReplyDeleteYay! For a while there I thought it was only me. You're most welcome.
DeleteThank you! I had read the other love me again book... I wonder if you’ll translate the entire series? :-)
ReplyDeleteI think the autor has no idea how a female body is. 23cm??? Maybe it's only like from face view idk...
ReplyDeleteMaybe she took out a couple of ribs XD
DeleteOk Dear, I Pfund a huge mistake (it's kinda funny tho):
ReplyDelete"She had been 168cm tall. Her breasts had been 34E, her waist measured 23cm and her beautiful buttocks 34cm."
If her mesurments (waist and butt) are soposed to be all the way around her, that cant be true xD not even barbie herself could have those numbers. 30 cm is the height of an A4 piece of paper xD i as a thin and small girl cant even wrap that around my thigh. (My taille is 67cm and it extremly thin)
Maybe it's supost to be in inches? Idk, but I felt like I have to point that out xD
Last but not least, thanks for the translation! I enjoy all of your works!
Omo!!! How embarrassing!(*/∇\*)Can you imagine?! I didn't even think of the implausibility of the maths. doh!
DeleteI am an Asian girl who is as pale as a sheet of paper... I literally use the palest shade of bb cream that is available. Let me say rn that being pale means that acne becomes SUPER noticable if you happen to break out. Dark circles = Instant panda. Pale covers ugliness!? Wtf nopeeeeee
ReplyDeleteThis ain't going to be one of those stories where she's 'fixed' at the end and becomes pale? Cause that always annoys me when that happens ( there's a Japanese reincarnation one about a holder of darkness with dark skin and hair who gets a blessing from the light fairy and her skin becomes pale..so Damned annoying!)
ReplyDeleteEhh, Zuben you're right, she's annoying!
ReplyDelete❤️ thanks for translating the novel, I love reading your comments. how Mexican I am, I have brown skin and when I read Asian stories I can't help but roll my eyes every time they complain about their "dark" skin tone that I suppose would be tanned🙄
ReplyDeleteOnly the start, but already hooked.
ReplyDeleteGood god. I didn’t realize when you said commentary you meant you were going to push it into virtually every other paragraph with no line breaks for any clarity to ruin the reader’s immersion as much as possible. I might have seen your work before actually - I remember cringing with friends over how the ‘12 year old does MST3K’ inserts made the same comment slightly paraphrased three times in one conversation. But I genuinely can’t fathom why you would go to the effort to translate and then go to so much extra effort to ruin the experience of any audience member trying to properly experience the story by constantly jerking them out with poorly delineated meta narrative ‘commentary.’ Other than ego, I suppose. But even then.
