Rose Tinted:

Yin Ting blinked before she finally responded.
She started laughing.
She was wearing pyjamas wrapped in a house coat. He was well dressed in a suit but had a fat cat wearing flowery clothes. He looked so discordant.
Yin Ting laughed till she was teary-eyed. She reached out and took Miao-dada from him. She buried her face in his furry neck.
He said he would improve next time. And this was his improvement.
It was too fast.
Yin Ting laughed till she cried. But she felt that it was not funny at all. How to describe the mood? She could not even think of suitable adjectives.(Zuben: Sexy? No? I dunno then.)
The well dressed man complained, ‘Aren’t you supposed to be holding me?’
Yin Ting laughed more, her shoulders shaking.
‘Well you have no hands now, so I’ll do the holding.’ He said and took her, cat and all, into his arms.
She buried her face in his chest and sniffed hard; he was the best, most serious, most unconventional man she’d ever met.
‘You haven’t answered yet.’ Zhengqing asked, still seeking her reply.
She looked up at him, his eyes were beautiful, focused and enchanting.
She sniffed and laughed, ‘I’m not going to talk about this at my doorstep in my pyjamas.’
‘So I can come in, shut the door and you go and change.’ He suggested seriously.
Yin Ting laughed again, the emphasis was not on this. But she showed him in. She had to put Miao-dada in the box because she didn’t want her dad’s allergies to act up. And she felt a little guilty.
‘How did you think of this?’ She asked curiously. She guided him to a sofa and sat beside him.
‘It just came to me suddenly,’ he replied, ‘There was no reason, I was lying on my bed and I suddenly wanted you there. I wanted to be married to you. I wanted you to be my wife. The idea felt nice.’
‘What did you feel?’ she asked with a pointed stare.
‘I felt like you were next to me.’ Zhengqing answered with a serious expression. Then he looked at Yin Ting’s expression asked, ‘You think my thoughts were crooked again?’
She chuckled and grabbed his arm hiding her face in his sleeve.
‘Miss Yin Ting,’ he said in a very proper tone, ‘As a man of marriageable age with a beautiful girlfriend; don’t you think it is impossible to have no evil thoughts? Therefore, you also have to act charitably, don’t tease him all day.’
‘Where have I?!’ She exclaimed, her face blushing. ‘I had always thought you were an honourable gentleman,’ she teased. Zhengqing’s expression turned ill-humoured.
‘Hao, hao, I am very proper.’
Yin Ting looked at him for a few seconds but could not keep a straight face, she grinned broadly and jumped into his arms.
‘Please Be More Serious, you are so cute. How can you be so cute?’ she said with a wide smile. His very serious tone and expression while taking about ‘evil thoughts’ was so cute.
Zhengqing kissed her interrupting her laughter.
It was a warm and energetic kiss.
Yin Ting wrapped her hands around his neck. He pulled her onto his lap properly, and pulled her into a more intimate hug.
Yin Ting’s heart was beating so fast. She didn’t know why; she had kissed Zhengqing so many times, but she had never felt this shy and flustered. Maybe it was because he had proposed. Or maybe it was because they had been talking about naughty things.
They stopped and pulled apart. She looked into his eyes, and she could see he really had wicked thoughts. Her heart beat faster, (Zuben: Any faster you’d be a humming bird) and her face was hot. But she was enchanted, she tightened her arms and kissed him.
It went out of control. Zhengqing’s hand reached under her night clothes. She wasn’t wearing any underwear, the feel of his hand on her skin was hot. Zhengqing pushed up her top and was about to kiss her skin when they heard the door unlock.
The two held shock still.
Zhengqing quickly pulled Yin Ting’s clothes down. Yin Ting held her hand over the scream that threatened to come out. She hadn’t got up from Zhengqing’s lap when Yin Shi walked in. (Zuben: Amatuers)
Yin Shi saw that the living room lights were on, ‘Xiaoting…’ he called.
He froze when he saw the both of them, the phrase ‘haven’t you slept?’ got stuck in his throat.
‘Ge ge,’ Yin Ting called. She was blushing. Her clothes were messy, her hair was mussed. She was still very much on Zhengqing’s lap. Zhengqing who had always been in the serious faction, had a ruddy face and chaotic hair. He didn’t speak but nodded in greeting.
Yin Shi looked at both of them and said, ‘Hey, I’m going to my room.’ He wanted to say he didn’t see anything but that would be a lie. So he decided to go to his room.
After going to his room, he realised, someone was bullying his sister, well not bullying, in their living room. It was just too unbelievable. Were they taking advantage of dad’s hospitalisation? Should he return to the living room, or not. He didn’t know.
Well he was also an older brother, right? No matter, it cant be ignored. It would not be worthy of his identity as a brother.
Yin Shi thought for a few moments, then shouted, ‘Xiaoting, I’m thirsty could you get me a glass of water.’
In the living roon, Yin Ting said to Zhengqing. ‘My brother wants me.’
Zhengqing held her fast, ‘Wait a moment, I need to calm down.’ Yin Ting sitting on his lap knew what he referred to, she could not help but blush even more. (Zuben: I don’t think her bum on your lap is going to help matters)
After another minute, her brother called again, ‘Xiaoting, where’s my water?’
Yin Ting got anxious, ‘No, I have to go. Otherwise, he’ll come out and see us. It’ll be even worse.’
She was right, if Yin Shi came out to see them and finds that they haven’t let go of each other, it wouldn’t be good. It really wasn’t good, Zhenqing had no choice but to let go of her. Yin Ting jumped up and but dared not to look at him as she raced to the kitchen. She poured a glass of water and headed to Yin Shi’s room, on the way she picked up the pet box and thrust it into Zhengqing’s arms,
‘Use this to cover it.’ She said.
Zhengqing was at a loss for words. Use what to block what? Why was she so dramatic? He was much calmer. Well, okay it was best to be cool and calm. If Yin Shi came out, it won’t look good. He hugged the cat carrier, Miao Dada had a bewildered look on it’s face as Zhengqing stroked it’s head.
Yin Ting went to hand Yin Shi his water.
‘It’s very late,’ he said to her after he took a sip of water.
‘I will send Serious home immediately. He-he came to see me.’ She said with awkward hesitance. She was shy and she felt guilty. It was hard to cope with this kind of thing in front of one’s elders.
‘You drink your water, I will go and send him off.’ She said and she ran out of his room, her face red.
Zhengqing had over heard the two of them and was already up, sorting his appearance. He felt very self-conscious.
She ran out to him, and gave him a wink, ‘You should go home. Drive carefully on your way back.’
‘Hao,’ he replied calmly, he carried the pet box and shouted, ‘A Shi, I’m going.’
Yin Shi came out and said, ‘Walk carefully, drive carefully,’ politely. He wanted to say more, but he stopped short when he saw the cat.
Yin Shi had black lines over his head. What were these two doing? There was no one in his house, they didn’t go there to roll. Instead, they are in the woman’s living room being affectionate; they even brought an audience!
When Zhengqing left, he looked at his sister and wanted to ask her; what was the cat’s role? But he didn’t have the nerve, in case the answer was too exciting, he was afraid his pure heart would expire from over stimulation.
But it was probably not to hot for his sister to tell him, ‘Sleep early.’ He said instead. He was full of curiosity, but instead took on an air of seriousness.
‘Good night, gege.’
She rushed back to her room, her face ablaze. She jumped into bed and pulled the quilt over her head.
She was so happy! So very happy she couldn’t help but laugh. When she thought of his proposal, his kiss, his discomfort, and Miao-dada, she couldn’t help but laugh. Then they were caught by her brother, how embarrassing! But still very joyous! She really wanted to scream with happiness.
She rolled about on her bed, and found her mobile phone. Looking at the time, he won’t have reached home yet. She continued to roll.
After a while, after enough reliving the moments, she looked at the time again. She quickly called his number, and Zhengqing immediately answered.
‘Are you home yet?’
‘Just arrived.’
‘What are you doing?’
‘Getting Miao undressed, it’s sleepy. It’s found a good position to sleep in.’
Yin Ting said nothing for a beat, then she said, ‘Serious, listening to your words, I will feel jealous.’
‘What are you jealous about?’
Yin Ting turned in her bed, as she asked, ‘Is Miao sleeping in my place?’
Zhengqing was silent. He didn’t even breathe.
If she was talking about her position on the bed, that meant…
‘Mr Zhengqing, at this time, you should say something, so that your girlfriend has a step to continue the topic.’
Zhengqing cleared his throat, ‘Well, don’t mind it too much. After all, Miao can sleep at your feet?’
Yin Ting blushed at she bit her lips unable to hold back her smile, She tried to speak calmly as she said, ‘I don’t mind.’
‘After the event is over, you should come for a sleep over.’
Yin Ting covered her face trying to hide her happy smile.
‘Tomorrow after work,’ Zhengqing continued, ‘I will go to the hospital and talk to your father about it. Then we can go out and buy a ring and flowers.’ The sentence was delivered very imperiously, with no hint of sweetness, so he added, ‘Is that okay?’
‘Hao,’ she replied without hesitation. She heard Zhengqing chuckle. She also laughed. She felt satisfied.
Only one word had been spoken but her entire life was full of happiness.
‘Hao!’ she said again loudly.
‘I heard you.’ He replied.
‘Hao!!’
‘Fool.’ He replied laughing.

Storm in a teacup

The next day, Zhengqing was in a good mood. He arrived at work early and voted to Yin Ting in the event polls. Then he went on the internet to find the address of the flagship store of a brand name jewellery store. He also searched for a restaurant nearby. When he was happy with his search, he faced his work. (Zuben: one chicken, two chicken, three chicken – four)
There mustn’t be overtime today. He must leave at six ‘o’ clock on the dot and go to the hospital with Yin Ting. He didn’t know whether Guohao would be disagreeable, but Zhengqing did not worry.
In his view, the hardest part had passed. Guohao has been completely negated and had now softened.  And he and Yin Ting had changed their relationship models. Although, there would be some minor conflicts in the future, they would not deliberately embroil each other in embarrassing conflict, but rather, would be more considerate of each other. There should be no problem,
He would be a good husband, he thought. But time will tell. So regardless of what concerns Guohao had, he would work hard to overcome them.
Zhengqing enjoyed working that day, he did things very efficiently. In the afternoon, he had just finished lunch when he got a call from Yin Ting. He was very happy as he answered the call,
‘Have you eaten? Be rest assured, I will be done on time, and be at the hospital by six. Wait for me there. I have booked the restaurant, after we finish with your dad. We will go and choose the ring and go and eat.’
Yin Ting didn’t immediately reply, ‘Did you find a PR company to harass me?’
‘No,’ he replied a bit confused by the question, ‘Didn’t I tell you? I knew you would disagree, and you would say no. So I never did it. All I can do is vote for you everyday.’
Yin Ting was silent. Zhengqing noticed something was wrong, ‘What has happened?’ he asked. He worried that she may have changed her mind.
‘Nothing,’ she replied, ‘I’ll deal with it first and call you later.’
Deal with it? What was she dealing with? Zhengqing still had questions but she hung up. He went to her Weibo and found out why she was upset.
She was being pilloried by netizens.
She was being accused of being a ‘black box operation’ in the Xiu event. She was a shameless advertising ploy in the guise of an innocent competitor. (Zuben: There was some mention of the ‘Virgin Mary’ or ‘Notre Damme’ I couldn’t figure it out. 而尹婷恬不知恥當托賣廣告還裝聖母)
Her accuser sent a long list of evidence using many lurid and inciting phrases.
Evidence one: Tingting Yuli 413 wrote on May 10th when she signed up for the event that her boyfriend, father and brother gave her gifts and asked her to pursue her dreams. When is her birthday? From her Weibo profile, we can see her birthday is April 13th. When did the registration start? May 1st . Who would have known about this event and presented gifts related to this on April 13th? When I saw her write this thinks, I was a bit flabbergasted. How stupid to be showing off these things? Isn’t she afraid that people might catch on?
Evidence two: Tingting Yuli 413’s boyfriend’s ID is 413510. We can see be assured of his identity because her birthday is April 13th and she has mentioned that his birthday is May 10th , therefore 413510 is indeed her boyfriend. (Zuben: Shwoooh! How shocking!) The two blogs interact frequently with each other and show fragments of love. Who is 413510? Looking through his Weibo Bar, we can see he is the Vice-President of the Yongkai Group. But how can the Vice President of such a big company choose such a low nauseating online handle. It shows lack of taste. With such a Vice-President will Yongkai not lose? (Zuben: While I do agree it is eye-roll worthy, it ain't that serious. What do you want him to call himself, Yongkai Money Tree?) However, with this sort of person, it is not so difficult to understand why Xiu has such a nasty operation happening in its event.
The Vice President usually shares management articles and comments on financial articles to show off his expertise. Pretending to be a model management on the contrary, only reveals their incompetence. (Zuben: Does it really?)
Evidence three: On the event’s page, we can see that eight hundred and thirty one people have registered in the primaries so far. It has only been two weeks, but the number of participants had been increasing everyday. With so many candidates, why is Tingting Yuli413 the only one consistently on the homepate? We have screenshots to prove it. As you can see, she had been on the recommended blogger home page for two consecutive days. What did she write about? See evidence four. (Zuben: Disgruntled competitor)
Evidence four: Why are we saying that this is a black box operation? This evidence if the most direct of the four. Her entries are a joke. She posted about a roadside flower shop. She found someone who know’s how to take photos, and someone who can compose touching paragraphs. And the officials helped her to the recommendation’s page with this pithy post. It makes people go huh?! The most ridiculous thing is that after the official recommendation, Miss Tingting Yuli413 went to a Xiu store to buy shoes, and then casually put up a few of the brands shoes on her blog. The advertisement couldn’t be more obvious. She also said the friend that went with her owns a company. But then beside her, she talks about the Xiu shopping guide girl. Miss Tingting Yuli, do you have a brain? How is this girl comparable to your friend with her own company? How is her earning a small amount of money for helping people with their shoes the same someone who’s making money from her company? Are you helping advertise or throwing shade at people? (Zuben: The fact you are saying that is more the insult to the girl)
Hahahaha~ isn’t this supposed to be a dream trip?
You picked up a camera and said you’re a photographer, walk two steps and call yourself a traveller. Do you want to spoil dreams, ah?
Want to write, but your writing style is poor. You want to be a Madonna, but your face is too ugly. Tingting Yuli 413, do you have any shame?
The person wrote a bunch of eloquent words, in conclusion they said, ‘I am blushing for you. It is shameless to do such a thing. Shame can’t even be considered, neither can smarts. Do you regard everyone one as silly children? Could it be that Miss Tingting Yuli413 is completely ignorant of being seen by other people? Are you alright with taking the prize from the back door? More talented people than you are in this competition, these people have been fooled into participating in a publicity stunt to increase the popularity of such a disgusting company. It is simply too distressing. I am not a contestant, but I love to travel and dream that one day I too can live my dreams. So I pay attention to the travel bloggers,so I am very concerned about the legitimacy of this event. Every other contestant's entry looks like a dream to me, but when I looked on the recommendation page to find Tingting Yuli413’s entries, it felt like a bucket of cold water on my head. It is a disgrace to the supporters. Therefore, Xiu must give a public apology and kick Tingting Yuli413 off the list of contestants. It is the only way to ensure a fair and equitable treatment and support for all participants.
As soon as this was posted, it caused a great storm. Many people came forward, amongst them active participants of the event (Zuben: wanting to get their digs in). Their comments scrolled speedily in real time on the official website. Many people banded together to condemn Yin Ting, they had been incited and attacked her on her blog page.
Zhengqing saw many comments on her Weibo page. The number of comments had reached several thousands. His own blog had more than a thousand comments, and it was growing. The vast majority of the comments just showed the writers’ jealousy. There were lots of bad words, contempt and denunciations.
Zhengqing was so angry he was almost dizzy. (Zuben: Well, you did create an event for someone who could fly away on her own power). He had not been this angry in a long time. But he was still corpus mentis. He calmed himself and called the Xiu’s manager. They had already heard the news; the official site was being questioned and surrounded by buzz.
‘We have just begun a meeting to discuss this matter. The project manager has drafted a statement and we have already informed the Crisis PR team. After the statement is verified, they will release it.’ The general manager informed him. ‘We have done a good job in the preliminary stages. The notary process and platform procedures are ready. The recommendations are based on the rules of the event. And the content of the contest applicants do not contain anything illegal, so there is no problem. The final result of the event is based on the votes. We haven’t done anything fraudulent, so we will insist on this position.’
‘Alright.’ Zhengqing said calming down.
‘Qiu Zong,’ the general manger said, ‘In the meeting, many of our colleagues really like Tingting Yuli’s blog, and that is not just referring to the last two days, but over all. It is very much inline with the theme of the event. We hope that she will persevere and continue. If she quits, we think it will be detrimental to the image of the event and the company.’
‘I understand.’ He replied, but he could not guarantee it. He suspected Yin Ting would be very depressed right now. She had said she would be upset if such a thing happened to her, but any normal person would not be happy about being attacked.
‘I will talk to her.’ He said.
‘From the standpoint of the organisers of the event, we will send a formal communication to her.’ The manager said. They all knew of the relationship between Yin Ting and Zhengqing.
‘Okay,’ he replied. He did not oppose it.
After he finished the call with Xiu’s General Manager, he called Yin Ting. The call rang a long while before she finally answered.
‘I’ve seen it.’ He said to her.
‘I’m sorry,’ she said with a sob.
She had sat before her computer not knowing what to do. The condemnation and jealousy had been so overwhelming.
‘I’m sorry.’ She had stopped crying before, but now hearing his voice, she began to cry again.
‘I've caused trouble for you. I’m so stupid; I didn’t expect this to happen. I read the post over and over, but I don’t know how to refute this person. I fucked up a good event…’
